"Language is what we think, speak, write, and read, not see. However, I reckon that if we put words on pictures, we might create a new dimension of understanding of language, which seems to us so clear, but in fact is so ambiguous and confusing. I started experimenting with words in my paintings in 2010, sometimes glueing three-dimensional letters onto canvas, sometimes drawing letters with pencil or acrylic. Today, I'm still active in this research and continue to create my mental paintings and collages."—Ilya Yod.
