Yod was born in 1984 in Leningrad, Russia. At the age of 23, he moved to France, where he passed ten years of his life, and graduated from the Poitiers Art School in 2010, becoming a part of the French contemporary art scene. Simultaneously maintaining strong ties to the Russian cultural landscape, in the year of 2010, Yod presented his paintings in Moscow Center of Modern Art at the exhibition curated by Vladimir Potapov, demonstrating the most relevant contemporary painting practices. Merging an innovative high-tech process with classical painting, Yod desperately asks himself how painting can remain relevant in a hyper-digital age. Considering that artwork is self-contained, he works under a pseudonym, and images of the artist are incognito. Currently, Yod lives and works both in Russia and France, where he runs his two studios.
